What
is reflexology (Zone Therapy)?
The human body is a complex
organism. If something in the body
does not function properly an
imbalance is
caused. This may result in
illnesses, pain, fatigue and
discomfort. Reflexology often helps
to re-establish the
balance. Each part of the human body
has a zone on the top and the bottom
of the feet which are called reflex
zones – hence the name reflexology.
If a reflex zone is sore, it is
because part of the body is not
functioning
optimally. By treating the sore
reflex zones with specific pressure
combinations, the reflexology can
influence
the organs to better the functioning
of the body and in that way restore
the body’s balance. Many people also
use reflexology even if they do not
have health problems as it helps to
maintain a good health.
The
reflexology treatment.
The reflexology treatment is
basically pressure-massage on the
top and the bottom of the feet. By
identifying
the soreness of individual reflex
zones as well as the condition and
colour of the skin, the zone
therapist is
able
to determine the nature, location
and strength of the imbalance in the
body. After this, further treatment
is
arranged and specially designed for
the individual. The treatment then
affects the parts of the body which
are
not functioning optimally in order
to restore the balance.

How will reflexology make me
feel?
During Reflexology you can expect to
feel relaxed, comfortable and
supported physically and emotionally.
You
will
be seated on a couch or in a chair
and asked to remove your shoes and
socks. Once your feet have been
cleansed, the treatment starts with
a gentle relaxation sequence.
Occasionally you may feel some
tenderness
where the
therapist is applying pressure to
your feet, however, this is
temporary.The Reflexology will be
gentle
and
soothing.On your first visit a
medical case history will be taken
and there will be a preliminary talk
to make
your
treatment plan. Treatment will last
for up to an hour. You may feel
tired afterwards. Your therapist
will
advise you
to drink plenty of water. We advise
you to stay in the Centre until you
feel ready to travel home.
